I also recently purchased pacesetter lt's and y-pipe and have been thinking about the magnaflow catback- I've looked all over on line and have only been able to find them for $389+ shipping. Where did you look to get that $299 shipped price? Another question: I'm going to be swapping my motor from 3.4l to vette lt1 and am wondering if the intermeddiate pipe is the same on 6 and 8 cars. My car is 95 and the vette motor is 94- wiring set up for single cat but I plan on removing the cat. Can I just run a off-road cat bypass pipe off of the y-pipe, use my existing stock v6 intermediate pipe and then into the magnaflow? What do you guys think? If I have to, I can have my friend make an intermediate pipe- he's got a full shop (hydraulic lifts, exhaust tubing benders, and the whole nine).

It sounds like magnaflow is a good deal- thanks for the reassurance!

Me too! and I retract my previous post- I see that the magnflow comes with the intermediate pipe, so I suppose that I would just have to use a cat by-pass tube between that and the y-pipe

Anyone care to elaborate on who the certain vendors are that can get the Magnaflow for $299. I guess if I were going to put huge money into my exhaust I would just as soon focus on the headers. The Magnaflow sounds like a good system at a good price and I like their tips. Are there any documented flow rates of the Magnaflow in comparison to some of the other cat-back systems?

What would be necessary to make it work with Kooks headers? Anything special? If you remove the cat, do you just need an offroad y-pipe?

thats the easiest. that and rear o2 sims. otherwise o2 sims and a gutted cat, or fabricated pipe size of cat

'94's don't have rear O2 sensors. I think my cat may already be gutted. At least according to my brother, it's been gutted. It seems that Midas may have ripped me off when they "installed a new cat". I know they were going to put on a high flow cat, but my brother says there is absolutely nothing in the canister. I guess that would qualify as high flow. If that's the case, I may just cut it off and do without a cat.

i'm strongly against the use of a cutout as your means of an exhaust. most of the time a cutout doesn't give you much, if anything over an aftermarket catback. heres the thing....when you intsall a cutout and have it capped, you're losing power from the excessive backpressure you just installed. so people go and get it dynoed with it closed and get a baseline of lets say 300rwhp. then they go and dyno it with it uncapped and get 308rwhp. so their happy and excited because they think they got 8rwhp, not realizing you probably would have gotten around the same numbers before you installed the cutout, since it hurts your power with the cap closed. cutouts are great for what they're designed for...being sound legal on the streets and being ableto uncap it for frequent racing.

I love my Hooker Catback. I have had it in both of my cars and I love the way it sounds. Great tone and sounds great when you get on it.

after considering all options i think the magnaflow is a great choice due to the fact that its all stainless steel (something i have not even considered before reading so of the posts) it sounds great and with the pacesetter headers and y pipe it should be a killer combination. what do you guys think?

Right now, I'm thinking my future exhaust combo is going to be Kooks headers with the Magnaflow. I just want something that's deep & throaty. It would be nice if you could listen to every conceivable combination. Are any of the other comparably priced catbacks made out of stainless steel? If you couple Kooks headers with a top end catback you're talking potentially over 2 grand. That seems like a whole lot of money to sink into your exhaust.

Does anyone know of a flow comparison that includes the Magnaflow. The only comparison I've seen did not include the Magnaflow catback. I seem to recall that the Hooker catback flowed very well, but it's aluminized steel. Would that be more likely to rust?
