About an Exhaust System?

My car is stock. Its a 94 Z2. Im trying to figure out what to do about my exhuast. I want my car loud. Someone told me to dump the exhuast. What exactly does that mean? Will it hurt my engine any? How much HP do I gain?

Or should I just buy an exhuast system and go that route?

Buy a cutout from summitt/jegs for $40 bucks, another 20 to get it welded on and bam. Loud, a small hp gain, and no engine harm.

how do the cutouts work? Like how do I manuever it from stock to loud? It seems like the electric ones are controlled by a switch.

Check out DHM e cutouts. They are the best. Otherwise just buy a hooker or mangnaflow catback. Both are 300 bucks.

But how do the regular cutouts work? If I can spend $60 bucks total to have it on my car, and my car is loud with lil HP gain and no engine harm, Id go that route. I just wanna know how the regular cutouts work....

Personally, I wouldn't mess with cutouts. I think you'd eventually get tired of listening to your exhaust valves pop closed. That or get tired of getting tickets (if you leave them uncapped).

An inexpensive setup would be to go tru-dual x-pipe with a couple of Dynomax bullets dumping before the axle. Summit has kits in 2.5 and 3".
