98 SS/WS6 exhaust ?

Hello all. Is the single tailpipe system on the SS & WS6 cars louder than then the SLP catback that was offered?

I am looking at getting a LS1 and I am a dual exhaust fan,but that one year only exhaust system is kind of interesting to me. Thanks

The `98 single outlet systems are louder then the later dual out setups but not quite as load as an aftermarket SLP Kit. The factory SLP systems are quieter because of the cone of silence. The single out systems are more efficient because there is less turbulence inside the muffler. This one year only setup is probably the best flowing of the factory installed systems.

Flowmaster and Mufflex each sell SOTL systems.

I know the " cone of silenece" was on the 2OTL on the 97 models. Was it also installed on the later dual/dual system too?

AFAIK yes
Any factory optioned SLP exhaust that came on a car new has the cone of silence. I've listened to two different cars with the same set up a `96 SS 2OTL and a `97 SS 2OTL. The `96 was noticeably louder because it did not have the cone of silence.

My 97ss SLP (2 on the left) exhaust had the "cone" of silence. Solved that with a sawzall. The kick over the axle was dimpled and also restricted flow. The 383ci D1 had to much flow for the SLP. I changed to a 3 1/2" mufflex sytem, and, had to modify it to get it to flow. B.

I have the Mufflex 3.5" setup on mine aswell. I have the SOTL with the tucked up turn down which makes for a clean look.
