95 z28 with 96 exhaust

Hey after searching, I found that 95 A4's have 2 cats, and that's what I have. I am about to purchase some pasesetter mids which will comply with my CA smog rules. The problem is that the 94-95 headers are for single cats, and the 96-97 headers are for duel cats. Since my car is a 095 with duel cars should I order the 96-97 headers? I was thinking about ordering the single cat headers with the Y pipe and converting to a single cat system with help of an exhaust shop. I should still pass smog since all 94's and 95 6 speeds were single cat systems. I'm sure that I will pass the visual since single cat systems came on some 95's anyways. Has anyone tried this? What system should I go with to play it safe? Thanks

94-95

Only CA cars got 2 cats in 95. It is the same exhaust as 96-97. You can get the headers with ypipe and a single cat, or the headers for dual cat exhaust.

ok, thats what I had thought. DO you or anyone else know if I should have any trouble with smog, whichever way I go? I feel kinda stuck, because if switch to one cat with Y pipe, I could fail for removing a cat, but if i do with the 2 cat headers, I may fail for having parts on from the wrong year. Thanks for the info.

I'm not sure if they will necessarily be looking at the year, but they may be looking for CARB stickers for the exhaust parts.

I don't know for sure, it wouldn't hurt to contact Pacesetter and find out.
