4th Gen muffler on 3rd Gen

Other than the bracket points being a little different, are the offsets and dimensions the same on a 4th gen vs. 3rd gen muffler. A friend of mine basically gave me a muffler off an '00 ss Camaro, so what the hell, considering I'm replacing the stock 2 1/4in. 6cyl exhaust. (This exhaust, with stock manifolds, ran a 14.18 w/a very mild carbed 350!) I'm sure this muffler flows better than stock from the mid-late 80's cars, and this daily driver is on a very tight budget anyway. If it's too much BS, I'll just buy an aftermarket muffler. Thanks.

should be the same, hangars may be a bit different but O/A, Muffler, Tailpipes are practically the same

I/S pipes are a bit different

Thanks, I thought so too, but you know how things could go. There's always that "looks the same, but just different enough where the pass-side tailpipe will hit the spare tire well" or whatever. I think it'll work, too. I'll post the results in a couple weeks when it's on.

yea, i've owned 2 3rd gens and 3 4th gens.

I had a 87 V6 cat-back and a 97 V6 cat-back, only differences i could see were the front of the I-pipe/S pipe cat setup, but that can be easily adjusted to work no problem.

Also had a LS1 catback on a 96 (LT1 style) V6 w/ no big problems, it should work fine

A friend has a 3" I pipe for me, and if the muffler just won't quite work, it'll just have to be driven open 'til I order one.
Thanks...
