3rd Gen header install??? cutting parts off?
My buddy has a 1991 GTA and wants to buy some lt headers for it... we heard from someone else that it consists of cutting away at some stuff... Is it true, and if so, could someone walk us through the install process?
thanks

If you are talking Hooker long tube headers, you will find that the clearance is very tight at the passenger-side crossmember. You might have to push a brake line out of the way with a rubber mallet. You most likely will have to raise the engine by replacing your sagging engine mounts in order to get the necessary clearance. Then there is the crossmember, at the rear control arm mount: You may have to chop a portion of the corner out, like a quarter-inch. I was able to get clearance by using a die grinder to sculpt mine.
There are other long-tube header options out there now too: Hawks Thirdgen offers a set of stainless long tube headers for the thirdgen. Those headers probably offer better fitment and clearance, but at a higher price.
Speaking of clearance, I have 3.5 inches of clearance to the header flange on Hooker long tubes. On this picture you can also see the lower control arm mount that might need modification.
