1997 Camaro SS exhaust what came stock on it?

hey ya'll, just wondering what exhaust system was factory on a 97 SS? i have a friend that has a used catback for sale from a 97 SS. he said its got SLP stamped on it, so i assume it was an SLP optioned SS. would that make it a TOTL? or did they also come with the dual/dual setup? anyone have any clue?
thanks
ryan

My 96SS came with the 2OTL from SLP. I don't recall if it has SLP stamped on it but it is identical to the system I bought from SLP for a different camaro I had at one point. Great cat back in my opinion.

My 97 ss exhaust option was a single 3" cat-back with single muffler 3" to (2) 2 1/2" driver side exit pipes. Stainless steel. Muffler was an SLP unit straight thru design. Some of the 3" inlets had a plug with smaller diameter (about 1 1/2" dia).

Here is a video of my car with the exhaust. You can hear the exhaust better in the videos towards about half way through. This is without cats and midlength headers. I love how it sounds and looks, though everybody always asks why I only have them on one side.

If you want a video from the track that really sounds good, PM me or whatever...

96-97 SS Camaro's came with a 3" intermediate pipe (up and over the axle) and the SLP 2OTL.

Best sounding cat-back I've ever heard in person.

Yeah, I don't remember exactly when they started to use it though. It might have been half way through the 97 production. So you may or may not have it.

It was dubbed "The cone of silence". If you do a search, you should find all you need to know.

it was before the muffler and easy to remove, makes the exhaust a lot louder than stock, picks up around 20 rwhp, dyno documented

BTW, the SLP exhaust was optional on the 97 SS, not standard.

Yes, it was an expensive SS option. Great for a stock LT1. I did pull the muffler, and, the 3" entry pipe had a reducer donut. Cut the dia down to about 2". A sawzall solved that problem. The muffler was straight thru flow. 2 perforated tubes with glass pack. Flowed quite well. One of the best mufflers I ever had. B.

Can you buy this SLP catback new, or was it exclusively a factory option on the SS? What year did the LT1's go to two cats? Would this system work on a '94?

SLP stopped making them recently, so you will have to search ebay or far sale areas for it.

96 was the first year for dual cats across the board. California cars got them in 95.

Yes it will work for a 94.
