Whats the word on the New drag strip at Lowes?
Alright guys and gals,
Whats the latest word on the drag strip at Lowes Motor Speedway?
Do you think it will be complete and ready to race on by spring time?
I have heard the City made Bruden Smith a great offer so it looks like he is staying.
Post any news updates in this thread. I am very excited about having a 1/4 mile strip in our backyard now...lol

"We're Here Forever!"
At a news conference Monday, Speedway Motorsports Chairman Bruton Smith told Concord, N.C., officials and the media he will NOT be moving LMS. "We're here forever!" Smith stated. Smith announced that he'll make up to $200 million worth of upgrades and renovations at LMS in the coming years, including the construction of the world's finest drag strip facility in 2008. In return, city, county and state officials pledged approximately $80 million in road construction improvements in the speedway area. Possible projects include widening of Speedway Boulevard, Interstate 85 and Highway 29. We are glad to be staying in the place we've called home since 1960, and the future looks even brighter for LMS!
