Post Nittos Stick on street but can't get hooked on the strip..burnouts?

It seems like i just can't get hooked up on the drag strip, my 60ft times are mid 2's and i spin trough most 1st gear, although on the street i might spin for a few ft and then hookup pretty well, im running nittos and while on the strip i make sure to warm them up by doing some burnouts..any advice ?

I ran 8.79 on the 1/8 with reac of 0.810 and 60' of 2.442 MPH was 82.3

Be sure to do a good burnout. I spin the tires for 4-5 seconds, release the linelock, then spin up to the line. Second thing is that I drop the rear tire pressure down to 17 lbs.

I have experience with:
1)Hoosier slicks (now on).
2)M/T ET Streets.
3)Hoosier QT Pros.
4)BFG Drag Radials.
But none with Nittos.

I would agree with my friends above and add... drive around the water and back in and... do burnouts in a MOIST area ONLY!! NOT in a puddle of water! I stay away from the deep end even with slicks! All the water is for is to ease in breaking the tires loose. The water is not for bathing, swimming, wading or any other watersports!

I always burn out of the water until I hear
the tires scream a bit, hence no water left on tires!

I would do a 7-8 second burnout.

How long have you been driving with them on the street. Racing rubber has oils in them that make the rubber get sticky when they're heated up. Driving on the street keeps the tires warm and the oils will eventually dry out of the rubber.

It's not uncommon for a racer to buy new slicks even when they're not worn out just because they don't hook up any more.

If a good burnout doesn't heat the tires up enough to make them sticky then it's time for new tires.

food for thought

Four year old 24k+ mile Nitto 555Rs

1.701 60ft in the heat On juice I bet I could get a 1.60-1.63

Just get them hot...REAL HOT! Nitto's 555Rs are designed to run down the road and stay hard and last long. Then when you get them good and Hot they release there resin's Do not do a dry hopp.

Do a good burn out till they get smoke rolling good(Guy with mopp will start looking at his watch ) then roll out hard and lift. Just slow;y roll into the lanes and have it for ALL she's got baby!

Good luck
