Yoke problems, need advice
Yoke problems, need advice
Allright, here's my problem...
I went to the track Friday, and I snapped my u-joint in half, and ripped my retainer rings in half. I dented the poo outta my driveshaft (thankfully I had a driveshaft loop). So I went out and got a new driveshaft. I put the new u joints onto the driveshaft, and transfer over my slip joint from my old driveshaft to my new one (my new driveshaft was out of a 1999 auto z28 with a steel driveshaft, and the slip joint on that one was shorter than mine, since I have a Mcloed Stree Twin, I have already started to strip the output shaft. I noticed this I had the broken driveshaft off, so I figured I'd put the longer one on, to reduce the stress on the output shaft/slip joint).
I went to go put the driveshaft on today, and I noticed that when the u-joint broke, it took off the little raised part on the yoke that held the u-joint caps on.
So here what it boils down to. Would it be logical to either weld/jb weld/ epoxy that one cap onto the yoke, could I fabricate a piece of metal and weld it onto the yoke to hold the u-joint on, or do I have to replace the yoke, which would be a giant pita.
I was actually wanting the travel home (600 miles) tomorrow for the holidays, so I was thinking of just rigging it up.
Other than that that piece that came off, the yoke is perfectly fine. and fyi it is a ford 9" with a spicer 1350 yoke, and a steel driveshaft.
