WS6 gears?

It's a cold, snowy day, nothin to do, so me and my buddy are doin' a little BS'in and bench racing...

So here's a question we had: he drives a '97 WS6 with an A4. Were tryin' to figure out what gears he would have. We figure that the WS6 automatically got the 3.23s, but we wanted to know for sure. Was it possible for WS6s to have the 2.73s?

Re: WS6 gears?

Look on the drivers door for the RPO codes.
GU2 = 2.73
GU4 = 3.08
GU5 = 3.23
GU6 = 3.42

If he has OD then he has 3.23, if he has just D or just a 3, then he has 2.73.

Actually with automatics if you can select the 1 on the gear selector you have 3.23's if not then it is a 2.73. You can select the overdrive, drive and 2 gears on the shift plate in 2.73 cars.

he is correct, but the ONLY way to tell for sure is to see how many rotations it takes the drive shaft to turn the rear tires over once

Re: WS6 gears?

Just check the RPO code.. I doubt any WS.6's came with 2.73's.
