wont shift till 4000,loosing od.

Well, heres my problem.Just put in a 700r4 in my 93 2 months back.Everythings been fine till last week, when it seamed like it was slipping. But now i realize its just not shifting till higher rpms.Wot it shifts great. It does have a shift kit,and has always shifted hard.Sometimes i lose od but it started that at the same time. What do i need to look for? Also,it started to miss at idle around same time. They may or may not be connected.

OK...This is a tv cable or a tv valve problem. My guess is, you don't have "forced downshifts", either??? This is when you're cruising at 55ish and nail the throttle. I'll bet it doesn't downshift (passing gear).
First, make sure your cable is still hooked up to your throttle body. The plastic "buttons" are known for breaking. If it's still hooked up, try this...Start the car, and with the engine running, snap the cable a few times. On some occassions this will free up the throttle valve. Drive the car and see if it makes any difference.
Don't get too excited if it "fixes" it...This really only means that the valve has stuck for a reason.

Here's a picture of where your TV cable attatches to your throttle body.

No. Your '93 has a 4L60...Not a 4L60E. This means that your transmission isn't electronically controlled. Your rough idle won't affect transmission function.

Im aware its a 4l60/700r4. Iv jus read a missfire or other things still may cause tranny problems even on a 93, but i quess i was reading it wrong.Iv adjusted the cable a few times, it seams i have quick shifts or very late.i can even adjust it 1 notch at a time and still cant get it right. And forced downshifts seam ok.It was ok till a few days ago, just shifted hard nuff to chirp tires from first to second.and what do you mean by snap the cable? How do i fix a stuck valve?

the other possibilty is that the governor gear stripped/broke, and your not building enough governor pressure to overcome t.v. pressure. Theres a round cover on the side of the trans, you can remove it and pull the governor out and check it out. More than likely though, its like frank said, these trans' are known for having t.v. valve issues. The bore usually wears out. Someone sells a kit to repair it, cant remember who right this minute. And yeah, you will need to drop the valve body. Whats your fluid condition at this point?

Fluid is very clean, no burnt smell.Fairly new tranny.Well rebuilt anyway.Adjusting the cable has no effect whatsoever now.even all the way forward. Can i pull the valve body while tranny is in?

Yes, you can drop the valve body with the transmission in the car. As I've stated, though...If the valve is stuck, it's probably because something is coming apart.
You said the transmission was just built? Did you get a warranty with the trans.? If so, the builder should fix this.
If you drop the pan to fix the TV, you'll be able to get a good visual of if anything is coming apart. You'll see debris in the bottom of the pan. If you see a bunch of it, contact whoever built your transmission.
The TV valve is held in the valve body by 2 roll pins. The whole valve body should be cleaned. Also check your MTV up and MTV down valves.
If you need anything else, let me know.
