sounds like a stupid question - but i have searched and searched with no definitive answer.

if a rear differential does not REQUIRE the GM LSD additive, will it hurt, or otherwise change, the performance of the differantial?

i know there are some gear lubes out there that say it is "already there", so common sense would tell me that it wouldn't matter if you added a bottle of it and you didnt need it.

You will be fine. The limited slip additive just makes the differential less grabby around turns.
What kind of limited slip do you have that you want to add this to???

I just changed my rearend fluid last week with some Lucas gearlube. It too said no additive needed. But I threw a bottle of the GM additive in anyways. I figure it can't hurt.
