Will a lose trans mount cause a vibration at high speeds?

After my trans install i noticed a moderate vibration from 55- 80 mph not related to RPM just speed.

I checked my poly trans mount and it has about 1/4-1/2 inch play in it.

Sounds like you installed the driveshaft 180* out of phase. The DS is balanced with the yoke and needs to be re-installed the same way it was removed.

I actually just went through the same thing after pulling my trans. I had a harmonic vibration at the same speeds.

To fix, just unbolt the DS, rotate 180* and bolt it back up. That should take care of it.

That was the first thing i did, and it helped alot with the vibration, but it still shakes the change around in my cup holder at over 55 mph.

well dont poly trans mounts vibrate anyways? I went with a LS1 trans mount and i am very happy with the mount. Are you sure the nut for the trans mount is tight?

The mount has play between the crossmember or tranny and mount or is it just play in the bushing itself? The poly bushing will flex a little but there should be no play between either the crossmember and mount or transmission and mount. The nut could be crossthreaded and just feel tight.

the space is between the mount and the crossmember, as i looked at it better it is actulay betwen the bolt and the cross member (kinda like its not screwed all the way in) It is not cross threaded. I am going to just get some washers i guess.

NOW does anyone know if this sounds like it is the cause of my vibration?

Yeah, it should take care of a lot of it but poly mounts are more rigid than the stock rubber mounts so it is going to pass on more vibration than stock.

I had the same problem with my Spohn trans mount bolt bottoming out before it was tight. It came with a stud, so I ditched the bolt and used the stud and nut approach...Plenty tight, no vibration...

I didn't drive it, but I would think that it would cause all kinds of vibration, especially under load when the trans tries to twist on the mount. I would either do the stud method or just get a shorter grade 8 bolt.
