Will all GM 10 bolt 8.5 gears work in my car?

I was looking at getting some gears off of ebay (new), and was wondering if there was any difference between the GM 10 bolt 8.5 gears. That is what I need for my 1994 Z28 right? Someone said that I need to pull my stock gears out first and check a number, is this true? Please inform this n00b! Thanks guys!!

OK, from what im reading I have a 7.5 rear end, right? The question still stands. Is there was any difference between the GM 10 bolt 7.5 gears?

You cannot use a ring gear that is 8.5" on a differential that is 7.5". You have a 7.5" differential. So the answer is no you can't use them.
