Thumbs up who said the 10bolt was weak?

There were quite a few cars at the Thunder Shootout flying with 10bolts. A couple that come to mind were a 9.99@136mph LS1 with stock rear and 3.23's another 10.30 LT1 runner up Modified stock but broke the rear in the finals He would have lost anyways b/c it was against Steve Quinn 10.03@132mph N/A LT1. (he didn't have a 10 bolt). I have dragraced my car for 3yrs w/o any rearend probs but these were all autos. Later Clint

Me, i'm on #4 right now. I've blown everyone on the street on nittos. You have to remember that the autos are a lot easier on the drivetrain. I will guarntee that both of those cars were automatic transmission. 6speed+grabby clutch+nittos = blown rear end

Oh yeah 6pd.+ Et streets +spec clutch = broken 10 bolt But us autos are doing pretty good. Kens95 from this board ran some 1.49 60's on his 10 bolt at the shootout too. I forgot about him. My car been 1.5 60's also. Here is a pic of my car leaving on that weak 10bolt . http://www.soslow.cz28.com/slide_sho...pilot_running=

It's survived so far for me with an M6 and BFG dr's, and I'm going to try a few shots at 11's soon with it (crosses fingers it holds) It is whining quite a bit lately though, I don't think it appreciates all this abuse

If u put some load on it before the launch it tends to last a lot longer to thats why I try to slip up the clutch before launch to get some pressure back there so its not a complete shck to everything behind the motor

I installed a 12-bolt rear without even breaking my 10-bolt. I consider it a bit of insurance, don't want to get stuck anywhere and have to get towed. It's kinda like building your motor to withstand nitrous or a blower. With the well documented history of the weak rearend in this car, how can you trust it?

10 bolt is better than people think

I been running mine for a while now and its still holding! I spray a 150 shot off the line everytime I launch run MT ET DRAGS 26x10x15 and pull the wheels about 4 inches mine is still holding up but I expect it to go anytime I'm ready for the moser but mine has to go first I'm not going to replace it for nothing! I also pull 1:55 60 ft nearly every time now my best is 1:54! I reall expect it to go just anytime but till then I'm going to give it HELL!!!!!!!!!!!! If anybody knows how to pu a video from kazza on here let me know I got a few of my passes on kazzaa and would like to post them! where people could see them!

Yup, had a 1.49 for the best at the Thunder Shoot Out.
Most of the other runs were in the 1.50's to 1.52's

I also just picked up another 10-Bolt rear that I'm going to have ready for just in case. These rear's are supriseing the heck out of me.

mine has held up to some major abuse too. they arent all that bad behind Autos. it is the drivetrain shock of a manual that kills the rears in a six speed.

I have said it so many times it is not the power that breaks them it is the shock of it my Camaro w/a 305tbi 260fwhp breaks them like nothing with a spec stage 3. so it now has a moser 12 bolt and my A4 TA has a 10 bolt best 60ft is a 1.54 enjoy

I'm still running stock 10 bolt with 4.10 gears but as soon as I slap on DRs, I know it will be just matter of time before blowing up the rearend.
