Where to buy/repair 4L60E?

Hey guys,

need some advice. Im in the LA area. My fully built trans I bought from a place in Florida called Fearthemonster.com. I paid $1700 with 2500 stall. After 3 mths, 1-2servo gave and had Aamco replace it. The [EDIT] idiots put in camaro servo instead of corvette. Now, months later, I think the servo is gone again. More problems, when I give it too much gas, trans just free revs or spins. One shop says, sprag unit needs to be replaced, other shop says 3rd gear (clutches?) need to be replaced.

First diag was performed by a buddy's shop. Will talk to him more but he just said full rebuild.

This trans as advertized can handle 650hp. The hardparts should be good. Ive done some searching, phoenix hardparts (google) sells reman'ed trans with warranties for great prices. Do I go with them, take my chance and have a "shop" open up the trans and hope for the best?

I can always go 6 speed conv but thats a tad more and my very last option.

WHAT do I do????

Daniel

If you're in california (or anywhere else for that matter) go with Probuilt Automatics http://www.700r4l60e.com or call Dana @ (909)-795-1876

I'm looking at this fearthemonster.com website and it says at the bottom that each of their trannies come with a 1 year warranty if you buy one of their torque converters along with it. Did you get your torque converter from them? If so, I think I'd be calling them up and ripping somebody a new a-hole about why one of their trannies that's supposed to be able to handle 650hp is already blown up after only 3 months of use. Judging by the mods in your sig, you're not pushing anywhere near that amount.
I think what I'd do is take it to a mechanic and have him look inside and see what all's in it. Find out if all the parts they claim they put in their trannies are really in there. If it turns out they put junk parts or parts that are different than what they list on their website in it, call them and tell them you're sending it back for them to replace all the broken parts with the correct ones. If they give you any crap over the shipping or honoring their warranty, take them to small claims court and sue them for the amount you spent on the tranny and use the mechanic who inspected it as a witness that the thing wasn't right.
Some of these mail order companies don't bat an eye at screwing over customers who are a thousand miles away when the likelihood that they'll ever have to deal with them face to face is slim.
