When my car (with a Street Twin) sits for very long the clutch sticks. Why?

Hey guys, I am curious if I did something wrong.

My car is having some oil pressure issues right now, so it has sat for a month or so. I went to move the car the other day and the clutch was stuck. I started the car with the clutch pedal to the floor, and it moved. Put it in N and started it. Let it warm up. Shut it off. Put it in 1st, held the clutch and brake. Cranked it until the clutch disengaged. It also did this after I had it parked for the winter. (Make sense????)

I installed the clutch myself. Did I miss something? I am thinking the disks are just surface rusting to the tranny shaft. Has anyone else had a similar problem? I wanted to lube the shaft when I put the clutch in, but I was afraid the lube would sling out onto the disks. Is there something I should have used?

TIA
