Broke my 4.10's on a road course . Behind the A4 . Also, smoked the A4 the same weekend .

The harsh downshifts out of every corner is what killed the gears ... took 2 teeth off the pinion. LUCKILY I was able to "limp" the car home under its own steam, but it sure didn't sound pretty!?

The A4 died because I was running pretty much the entire track in 2nd gear (it would JUST be hitting 3rd going into corners, but then it would be going back to 2nd coming out of the corners, so low and behold, 2nd gear started slipping afterwards!! )

I also had a carrier bearing go bad on my factory 2.73's, but the gears were still ok.

just a few miles after baby launches at the track did mine in. A major wine from the rear end and then found that I was missing a pinion gear tooth.

I haven't broke mine yet, knock on wood. My friend, however, with a mild head/cammed LS1 has been through a handful of factory rearends before he finally splurged and bought a 9 inch.

My guess is mine is going to break within the next few weeks...
I have just upgraded gears, carrier and added sticky tires and starting next week when I have everything back together I need to start testing my launches since my first race is on the 22nd...

So with my luck so far this season it will either break during testing or at the first race...

Ya, the trunk is now pressed agianst the rear seat so theres bigger problems then the gears. It did have 4.10s that lasted around 40k miles with no problems though.

Mine lasted 1500 miles after I installed the TH400. It started this whining noise that was really annoying me, I had to turn the radio up real loud to get rid of it.
Then a few days later I took it out down the block just havin fun and went full throttle and this horrid racket from the rear started. It was so bad even turning up the stereo did not help. Limped it back home with 3 teeth missing from the pinion gear. I popped the pumpkin and just started laughing.

Mine isn't broken yet, but the wine from it was loud. I could hear it over my exhaust no problem and at that time it was just a bullet dumped. It got worse when I finished off my tires in the AutoZone parking lot for a couple of spectators LOL. Its ok though since I was planning on some 3.73 and then I spun a rod bearing so I have plenty of time to fix it now
