Re: wheel sensor..

I think the wheel sensor is integral with the front wheel hub cartridge. You need a new hub assembly to replace the sensor.

Try cleaning the area around the sensor, and check the harness connector for looseness or corrosion.

The rear sensor, mounted on the differential housing is replaceable though.

Re: wheel sensor..

well im pretty sure they said it was a rear but i was thinking it had one on all 4 wheels so that saves the trouble of which one. thanks injuneer, i was also wandering if this could make the limited slip act funny?? im thinkin mines in the first signs of goin down (had another post about it awhile back) but could the wheel sensor cause it to act like that by not being able to judge each sides correct speed or slippage?

Re: wheel sensor..

If you have only ABS, you have a single sensor on the diff housing. If you have ABS + Traction Control, you would have two rear sensors, one mounted on each backing plate at the end of the axle housing. But I don't think they ever actually installed TCS in any of the 94 cars, even though it was in the brochure that year.

The reluctor gear in the diff housing is mounted on the differential carrier. So it can't put out a varying signal if the axles are not moving at the same speed. The carrier rotates at the sum of the axle speeds/2. A slipping posi will not affect the sensor, and a faulty sensor will not affect the posi.

A problem that seems to crop up once and a while with the sensor on the diff housing is the sensor getting coated with metal particles, and screwing up the signal. If you have a problem with the rear sensor, you can pull it out and try cleaning it off. And its fully replaceable. Shoebox has the part # on his website parts listing.
