Broke another set of gears (3.73's). I do a lot of highway, so I'm going with 3.42's. What will I notice, as far gas milage, seat of the pants, etc. The only gears I've run, were the stock 2.73's, then the 3.73's. It'll be in a 94Z A4.

I have never had 3.73s..I guess thats because the 4L60E has that crazy 3.06 first gear...I've been using GM 3.42 gears since 1995 and have never broken annything except wearing out an Auburn limited slip...I run 420rwhp and BFG DRs and 1.60s-1.70s to 60' are commonplace...Its still hard to control the launch with 3.42s and DRs....3.73s must be Really hard unless you use ET Streets (which hook hard and will break anything weak in the driveline ie. stock 10 bolt)...What I'm saying is that my combo seems to work and is apparently reliable....3.42s work great with the A4 at the track and on the road...I still get 25 mpg on the hwy and turn 11s at the track....
