What tranny?

Alright guys, I am new to camaros and need help figuring out what transmission I have in my 94 z28. Is it a 700r4 like my friend has said, or is it the 4L60E? Reason I ask is I am buying a shift kit here soon and would like to know.

Re: What tranny?

i think they are pretty much the same but the 4l60e is what these cars came with. so i would say 4l60e. ill be putting a 700r4 in very soon and it has a manual valave body. 4l60e is all electronic. the only ones offered to the camaro firebird from 93?-2002 was the t56 and 4l60e. but i dont know if someone had put another tranny in your car. what does your bellhousing say?

Re: What tranny?

well the car is completely stock, so it has to be the 4l60e, thanks a lot man. Ive just seen it on a website where it said it came with either or from the factory. I plan on building the motor and driving it til something stops working and then rebuilding and stroking the motor and building the s*** out of the tranny. Right now i'm doing a c306 cam, transgo shift kit, 3000 stall, 3.73 gears, pacesetter headers, moroso intake, MSD ignition, and true dual exhaust. I'm aiming for 12 second 1/4 mile, so we'll see how she does. Once i rebuild, im adding a 150 shot woohoo

The 93's were the 4L60 non-electronic version, basically a 700R4 with a new name. 94 was the first year with the 4L60E.
