What is stock trans type?

In my '94 Z, I have the A4 trans. Is this a 700R4? And what year camaro or firebird can I get another tranny from? Can I get one out of a '90 camaro or can I only get one from a '93-'97 or what? As you can tell, I know very little about the camaro. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

a 94 has a 4l60e and before that has a 4l60 which is a 700r4 the difference is the E at the end which is the tranny is electonically controlled so you would need a tranny from a 94 threw what ever year they have them....but personally throw a good stall converter in there and ull be way faster then a stick

4l60E You need one from a 94 only. The 94 converter lock up is different than later years.
