What is so bad about the B&M Transpak?

I really wanted to know why everyone puts down the transpak vs the transgo shift kits... I mean what really is the difference?

Re: What is so bad about the B&M Transpak?

I was real happy with my B&M Transpak. The trans had 138k miles on it when I took the motor/trans out, and the ported heads/HOTcam/Transpak/2800 Midwest stall had been in there for about 10k miles. Numerous track passes, blasts down empty roads and daily driving around on drag radials and the trans didn't slip at all.

The only abnormal symptom I had with it was on the 1-2 shift at the track when it was getting good traction, on the 1-2 shift there would be a shudder in between gears. Not a slip, but a shudder. Really didn't seem to affect my times any, the car still went low 8's, and if I had some cooler weather I think it could have kissed 7's.

Um, actually, you stand LESS chance of burning the trans up with a Transpak. I've never taken a trans apart that had a TG kit in it that the 2-4 band and 3-4 clutches weren't smoked. I have taken rather high milage transmissions with B&M kits in them that still had a little life in the band and
3-4's.

This isn't a post about "personal preferance". It's based on 16 years worth of transmission building experience.

it's not that the transpak is bad, but it's sometimes less complete than the transgo and other full shift kits.

I like hearing that kind of stuff Frank!

I'll let you guys know if/when my tranny blows up! Currently at ~57000 miles and counting, with the Transpak in there since last summer.

Re: What is so bad about the B&M Transpak?

I still want to know what i poped in my trans after installing Transgo I sure won't say the transgo did it though, it was a weak tranny anyway--it might have just put it over the edge, but man did that thing shift those 3 weeks were amazing

About one month after the install, i come around my corner comming home and just spanked it, i hear a noise like a clunk/pop. Since that day, every time i get off the throttle the engine drops to near idle speed, until you return to the throttle rpms go right back to where they should be.

By the way Frank you might be getting my business very soon. Spraying 100-150 shot this next spring. It's definately not going to make it all summer.

.
You broke all the lugs off the over-run hub, in the input sprag.
