What series carrier does my Moser 12-bolt have? (and other ?'s )
I purchased my Moser 12-bolt new 4 years ago. Eaton HD Posi, ABS, HD Cover, 1350 yoke, 33 spline axles, 3.73 gears.
I recently purchased a near-new set of Moser 4.11 gears from someone locally for a good price (far better gear for my setup).
I did not realize that Moser offered a 3 and 4 series carrier for the 4.11 gear. I "believe" my 4.11's I purchased are for a 4 series carrier.
I e-mailed Moser several days ago with all of the numbers off of the pinion gear I bought, but they haven't e-mailed me back. I don't want to pop open my rear end until it is time to swap the gear (as it would be easy to tell which I have by simply comparing the thickness of the gear, or so I'm told).
I'm not doing the gear install; a friend will be helping w/ that, as I've never tried it before. I just want to have the right gear before I begin.
If I do have a 3 series, and if my gear for sure is a 4 series, I see that Moser sells an adapter to make it work. Is that safe to use or not (read: M6 car launching on the spray is not rear-end friendly, so strength is a MUST).
