What rear tires do you recommend?

I had 275/40/17 Nitto d/rs on there and I liked the dry traction(crappy, but better than stock tires) but I do not like the wet traction. I try not to drive in the rain but I get caught sometimes. I almost wrecked one time due to hydroplaning.

I also need a cheap tire. The 158$ would be justifiable for the Nittos if they had good wet traction. I have looked at the Fuzion zri and it looks good but I was wondering if any of you had tried them or another tire similar in price. How about Kumho 712s?

Thanks.

I have the Kumho 712's. They do pretty decient in wet and dry although the dry will never compete with a DR. Dry wise, they are actually pretty comparable to the BFG comp TA's I had on there before. Thats before BFG made changes to their comp TA's though. For the money, you can't beat the Kumhos I don't think.

I had the F1s on there at first and they were nice but a little more expensive than I wanted.

I can't afford to lose any traction. I am already fighting through 1st and 2nd I guess there isn't a tire that hooks comparably to a Nitto d/r but has a longer life. I might have to break down and get them again.

before you go back to a nitto, go with a M/T ET Strret Radial, they have amazing launch capabilities, and should have good or at least decent traction..

Don't they wear out quicker than nittos?

Re: What rear tires do you recommend?

I run the Nittos and when they are newer and still have tread they are just fine in the rain; I've gove triple-digits and felt completely comfortable in the rain in my car. After a few miles and the bald-stripe has appeared, then it's just learning to take it easy on your right foot and drive a little smarter.

No the Mickey T's I would recommend overall. They are better than the nittos. They actually have a deeper tread pattern and the tread is made for the water where the tread lines are. They hook up good in the dry....awesome. I am not sure about the wear numbers, isnt a nittos wear at 100?

Yeah, I think the rating is 100. I must be thinking about another tire when you say et streets. Do they make one in 275/40/17?

Re: What rear tires do you recommend?

Well, my nittos were half gone and I hit a really bad puddle. I know with regular tires, I would have been alright.

I am going to check on the recommendations by you guys. Thanks.

Re: What rear tires do you recommend?

Those Mickey Thompsons have a tread wear rating of 0. So I'm sure they wear pretty quick.

I kind of figured they would last about as long as a snowflake in hell. I definately can't afford to replace them every 6 months.

Re: What rear tires do you recommend?

I have been looking at some reviews about the Sumitomo HTR Zs. Overall, most people like them. Treadware@160 so that is pretty soft. Plus they are only 100 bucks a piece.

It is probably down to Nittos or these now.

Also, does anyone know where to get Nittos cheap?
