What to look for 4l60e core interchange.

I'm looking for a transmission core to have rebuilt for the daily driver in my sig. It seems there all sorts of 4l60e trannies out there lt1 3.4 ls1 and possibly differences in the electronics and valve bodies of all of these too. So my question is what should i specificly be looking for when it comes to finding a core for my project.

You'll need a '96 or '97 LT1 4L60E core.

Thanks Frank, any recommendations as to where to look for a core the local junkyards have squat for cores like that, or they want a huge sum of money for something i'm going have rebuilt immediately.
