Seen it before, but when I seen it, it was in my drag car after I pulled the wheels high enough that the backs came off the ground then when it came down... you can imagine. But I would check mounts.

look and felt fine to me..... i just dont understand how I didnt notice anything... you think its a bad idea to have this welded? I can weld aluminum where I work (fab shop) but i doubt Ill be able to find just a case

Let me know where you are located. I have the '96 core out of my car. Shipping is pricy though so if you are close it makes sense, I am in north cal.

I have seen cracks like that from people not having the converter all the way on and trying to draw the tranny to the block by tightening the bolts down.
Not that I,ve ever done anything like that or anything..........OK once but I was very young and didnt know what I was doing.
If that tranny is original then its crazy, maybe a structural flaw?
