What is this about S10 converters?

Ok so ive seen a couple of posts in threads about s10 converters that you can use on an fbody. What is the benifit and what will the stall speed be close to? What years can you use?I know i would would be better getting a Vig or TCI but i need one quit, and really cant afford $600 to put in a new converter after i put $900 in the tranny, and i can swap it when i get the cash for a good one.

And if the S10 converter takes a dump, how much money are you going to be out all together? Just wait and buy the right one.

the s-10 conveter is a factory high stall with the torque of an lt1 it will stall around 2200 but its rated at like 2050 i believe i have used them alot and they are ok like i saud its a stock conveter. there is another lower than that one which is for the 4.3 it is like 1800 i believe and then the stock one at like 1500
