what is a 5l60e?

what is a 5l60e?

is it just a 5 speed auto??? are they any good, i just heard of them from a friend and also noticed they are in a couple of SUV's...do they bolt up to the LS1 truck/car engines? are they beneficial? and can they take a beating? also what would be the price range of one?

Perhaps you meant a 5L50-E as used in the 320 hp Cadilac XLR.

My guess that most new GM "L" transmissions for longitudinal engines will be 6 speeds. The first might be a 6L80-E for 400 lb-ft + torque engines. They will have PAL and PAS I'm sure. I believe you can get 6 speeds with almost the same number of gear sets as needed for 5. I would look for the new ones to be clutch-on-clutch upshifting.
