Well poop!!!

Bought a torque converter from another member here(all is perfectly fine with the transaction) that is for a 4l60E trannsmission on my 96' Z. Go to have it put in this morning, and they just cant seem to get it to go onto the third set on the shaft. Brand new converter. Mess with it and mess with it. His tranny specialist comes over and looks at it, tries to put it on. Puts the converter on a table and puts a screwdriver down into it, no recess for the small bar at end of the shaft. Seems it is specifically for LS1 motors 4l60E tranny. Neither seller or I had a clue there was a difference, thought a 4l60E was a 4l60E. What are the chances that Precision will let us do a swap on it? Being as how I am not the original owner, and it now has fluid in it? Once again there is no issue with the seller on this problem. Just c'ng what the options may be. If precision wont help, I will see if my shop guy may want to do some trade for the converter, he does a lot of LS1 work. may trade towards labor or other parts.

Re: Well poop!!!

Never hurts to ask... but I seriously doubt they will do an exchange of any sort unless they (Precision) were wrong.

Lotsa research and there is nothing that"ll make it work. Was hoping for some sorta trick or kit. No luck. Havent heard back from Precision yet.

Is it for a pulse width modulation pump? Earlier 4L60-E did not have this and you might be able to get by with a pump / input change if the depth of it is correct. Just a thought; it'll take a knowledgeable trans. guy to tell if this is an option on a 96 box / LS converter.
