Unhappy Weird Vibration

I've got a 96' TA, and it's making a high frequency (spelling?) vibration when I get to 55mph or higher. I kind of goes away when I accerate, and starts again when I'm coasting or slowing down. I know it's not the driveshaft, because I had it re-balanced. So, I'm thinking it may be something in the rearend, or the trans. What do ya'll think?

well if its the tranny it could be the rear case bushing or the tail shaft housing bushing

It's kinda hard to describe the sound it makes, but I have some evidance that the previous owner might have curb slapped the right rear. New tire and the wheel has some pretty bad scraps in one spot.

my car does this exact same thing.i thought it was the tailshaft bushing, so i replaced it,didnt help.got new tires,no help.i thought it was a bent axle, so i upgraded to mosers with new axle bearings, didnt help.got the whole trans rebuilt, didnt help.i also thought it could be the pinon/carier gears,so i put in 4.10 and new bearings, didnt help.its the same thing you describe ,but mine comes on at about 65,goes away under hard acceleration and above 90-100 it seems to get better.im going to just change my driveshaft. nothing ive done has even changed it at all! help, anyone??

mine would have been replaced with trans rebuild, no?hey 96tealta, if you think it might be the wheel then just rotate the tires front to back and see if that helps.any shop would do this for about $15 if you dont want to do it yourself.
