weird transmission problem..

So my 4L60E has started to generate A LOT of heat.. After the car has been driven for 15 minutes or so, I can feel the heat radiating from my transmission- to the point where the floorboard is hot... I've changed the fluid and filter, there wasn't any real amount of the generic ooze/metal shavings in the pan..My fluid doesn't really have the burned smell of clutches going bad, and it's still the normal color. I'm pretty much lost. There's no slipping between gears, nor is the shift excessively hard and my motor is stock except a 1LE elbow and CAI. Any suggestions?

Are you sure the heat is coming from the transmission? You just mentioned that the heat comes from under the car. Maybe you have a clogged cat. Next time you drive your and it gets hot, pull over and open the hood..maybe you'll see find a "glowing" exhaust manifold/headers.

I can't see how the tranny can get that hot and the fluid not smell burnt.

NO, it's most definitely coming from the transmission. I'm positive. The heat is mostly on the floorboard right beside where the transmission is, and the metal part of my shifter is scorching hot. The whole area of the center console and the floorboard right next to it is hot.

you may want to check your cooler and make sure it is not clogged for some strange reason ......
