Want in a TC causes min. rpm drop between gears

What in a TC will cause less of an RPM drop between gears? I am trying to muddle through what "I think" I need in a TC. The RPM drop between gears is really killing me when I race cars with a manual trans.

The higher the stall, the less the RPM's drop. Be carefull on the convertor you choose though, some are more efficent than others. Get some 3.73's too.

So it's determined by just the stall speed? I know it has to do with the amount of slippage. It seems that the STR would have alot to do with this. Anyone know where I can read about the pros and cons of STR?

These are some numbers I has seen on STR and various converters.
I am assumming that a higher STR makes for a harder launch but a looser converter.

Stock TC 1.8
Vig 2.5
Yang 2.2

I think the higher the STR, the tighter the convertor feels, the STR is how much it multiplies to torque.

by the "RPM drop between gears" do u mean how far the rpms fall after an upshift??? if so, this is called the shift extension....usually the stall speed has the most effect on shift extension. for example my converter stalls at around 3800 rpm (PI rates them WAY low)....the shift extension is around 5300 rpm meaning that after a shift, the tach will never fall below 5300 rpm at WOT.

a good high shift extension will help a lot against M6 cars but remmeber autos really can never really match 6 speeds from a roll....it takes more mods and more power to out-mph a stick car up top. if an M6 and an A4 with the same mods race from a roll, the M6 should pull EVERYTIME up top, even if the A4 is stalled.

to my knowledge STR doesn't really affect looseness as much as stall speed. i have a 2.5 STR and it will ANNHILATE the tires from anywhere under 35 mph if i ask it to...yet at the same time, i can do a nice burnout and it hooks up and launches HARD on my nittos....IMO, dont let people scare you away from a fairly high STR. 2.5 is good for a street car on drag radials i think...

Thxs, that's what I was wanting to know. With the mods below plus 1.65 rockers I can pull my buddies stock Z06 from a stop and anywhere up to about a 40 roll. After that my convertor suxs big time. I cann't keep the engine in the powerband. The rpms drop to the 3K's between shifts while he is banging 6k every time with his stick.
It sounds like with a stall like yours I may have a chance in the quarter. I am calling PI and see what they can recommend. Afterwards; if I cann't beat him then, I am going to sneak in a 75 shot NX kit. His car is so freaking fast and it's still on the stock air filter.
