VSS causing limited on 1st gear shift?

I was wondering if my VSS sensor is causing my car to bounce the limiter on my 1-2 shift. My shift point was 6100 and I lowered it and it still bounced off the 7000rpm limiter.

My buddy says it could be a bad VSS.

Or just wear on the trans, Im sure a 4l60e thats somewhat built can only take so much abuse running 11.7s lol

Not likely the cause. If it's reading right ion the dash or a scanner, there's probably no problem with it. More likely the 2-4 band not coming on quick enough.

Ran a stock 4l60e for drag use for 7 years, with the last few in the very low 11s at 120+. A built one should handle 11.7s easily.

That's the same problem I am having with mine. Lately it has even been starting to slip out of 4th gear.

This sounds like the 2-4 band, also.

I am A little confused you signature says 87 iroc then 4L60E.
Assuming theres been some swap done or we are not taliking about the 87 I see you not setting the RPM but what about the MPH they both must be met,
When the car shifts just off full throttle what does the shift feel like?
What is the fluid condition?
