vibration after gear install
vibration after gear install
Ok i was just wondering if anyone else has had a vibration after installing gears. I put in new richmond 4.10 and now have a vibration only on deceleration and and kinda at the floating point but not under acceleration. Any ideas?
Thanks

Re: vibration after gear install
Sounds like severe backlash misadjustment, lack of bearing preload but most likely the driveshaft is installed wrong.
I once had a ring pop off the ujoint and when I bolted up the DS it was slightly off center. Shook like mad.
Check the driveshaft install.

Re: vibration after gear install
I've got the richmond 4.10s and if you have a steel driveshaft that is definitely part of your problem. I am now running an LS1 aluminum driveshaft with mine and it still vibrates some but not nearly as bad as it did. If I had to do gears again I would go with a brand other than richmond.
P.S. I also have a poly trans mount so that could be why mine still vibrates some.

Re: vibration after gear install
Mine has strange gears and I believe an LS1 ds. However, even if it was the stock DS, I've had it at 100+ many many times prior to the gear swap and it never vibrated.
