Valve Body for automatic

hey every i'm new here. this is my first thread in this site.. or any LS1 site. i just bought my brother's LS1 SS from him.. since he got married and needed an SUV. i'm a little familiar with LS1's... one of my good friends has an 11.2 1/4m. 1998 trans am on motor.

well my question is....

he originnally wanted a shift kit but... i was telling him that it would be better if he got a Valve body instead. because for my 01GT auto... shift kits and chips used to firm up the shifting wouldn't do the tranny good... sure it'll shift better but, it might mess it up after a while.

so... what valve body do you guys recommend ? not one where you have to manually shift the car yourself. but one that will work great and will help out at the track. its running a bit slow.. 13.6 isn't that great... but good enough for me since its an auto.

tnx for any info.

For the 4L60E I dont know of any upgraded valve bodies..

I went through 6 of them and everyone from tranny shops to Chevy dealers had done the work for me.. (6 autos in 3 years on the same car..)

I did have a shift kit put in and installed properly.. Its my understanding that the shiftkit, with its harder engagement puts less stress on the tranny..

In retrospect I should of had a T350 or T400 built and installed and dealt with shifting it rather than go through so many trannies..

dont forget stall!!

TransGo's shift kit is in fact a valve body reprogramming kit that you can customize to your liking as you install it.
Mine's been in for 2 years and the tranny shifts great and I've had no problems at all.
