Upgrading 10-Bolt GU5

My rear end is being rebuilt. I am going to have to replace the carrier, ring & pinion, and of course all of my bearings. I will be upgrading to a 3.73:1 ratio.

The most stress I will be putting my rear end under will be ~2500 rpm launches (baby stall A4) on DRs (a little later) but for the most part the car will be driven on street tires.

Any suggestions for additional components to be upgraded to withstand the above stated conditions, such as limited slip? Thoughts on a used carrier? Anything else to consider while everything is torn down?

Why do you need to replace your carrier?
It should be good for what you are looking to throw at it and it has LSD already...

As far as my thoughts on a used one, they would be the same as reusing yours, what's the difference?

Either way it would be a good idea to inspect and rebuilt the posi, rather then get a new one...

While apart look into new things like new C-clips and maybe even a support cover...

My carrier is trashed. I wasn't sure until tear-down revealed lots of shavings on the magnet coming from severe abrasions on the carrier. Unfortunately I'm not rebuilding just for the fun of it. This thread is aimed at taking advantage of everything being apart and replacing wasted stock components.

Thanks for the input, keep it coming. I feel confident that a practically stock rebuild should be enough to match my demands but I'm all ears.

Read this:

"How to build a better 10 bolt" by Daniel Burk

It's a recipe for a bullet resistant 10 bolt axle that is capable of 1.6 second sixty-foot times without breakage. It's probably good to 400 RWHP. In fact I know it is, based on the number of people who have send me feedback about the article.
