Unheard Of Spec Clutch Problems
Re: Unheard Of Spec Clutch Problems
Forget about the flywheel. Try switching the PP with a non SPEC 1. I had the same issue after doing similar things. Had my flywheel resurfaced... thought it was cut too much. Skipped shimming ... brought a new one... same issue. Clutch never dissengaged properly had to force it into gears... had a new Hydrolic system thrown in too... new Fork... No Dice... So I decided to get the stage 3 Disk... and the SLP PP ... now it works like a normal clutch. Someone did some measurements on the SPEC Clutch setup... they are machined a bit different and are a bit smaller. Maybe it was on Bfrankers site.. don't remember.. but allot of folks were burning disk out after 2K .. I was one of them. Spec engineers thier cluthes to have a feather weight pedal feel to them. I have no idea what they do to the clutches... but they need to research that a bit more. when I pulled my clutch I had heavy burning on the Flywheel and the rear of the PP. On a fully bled system it wouldn't dissengaed till You hit the floor. Afte rI brought a new disk... and went with a different PP ... the clutch started dissengaging up high. You can send your PP into SPEC. They will most likely give you a new one. But it's just a russian roulette match. I ended up pulling my Tranny so much for this crap... I'm now leagalized to give sex changes.
Re: Unheard Of Spec Clutch Problems
I've pulled the tranny 4 times now and spent alot of money trying to figure out this problem. I am going to get a stock replacement locally so I can drive my car and then send the kit back to spec and either try to get a refund or do something different. This is ridiculous!
Re: Unheard Of Spec Clutch Problems
my buddys car had the same problem. What actually happended was the clutch fork wasnt on all the way. We tried everything you did as well and yes it was the fork. We even pulled it out and it looked on but turns out it wasnt. Hope this helps

Re: Unheard Of Spec Clutch Problems
I have had some thought on the clutch fork, We have tried pulling it out and repositioning it with no luck. Since I have pulled the tranny and re-installed so many times and every time I am so careful to watch the fork, I am not thinking that is it. But it is something I will look at twice before I go puling another tranny!
Re: Unheard Of Spec Clutch Problems
*************Update***************
Problem is fixed!!!!!!!!!!
It turns out that the clutch was defective. I bought a brand new stock replacement clutch....And we changed it out tonight...it works like a charm
So a 400 dollar Spec Stage 2 clutch is defective from the factory. I have since pulled and stabbed that tranny 5 times and bought a new master and slave cylinder. Needless to say, Im a little ticked off with Spec right now!

I'd say leave the stocker in there.. it might not hold the power.. but it'll last longer
