trouble shifting when cold

So this only happens when the tranny is cold, and as it is getting colder outside the problem is getting worse and it is pretty much non existant in the summer or after I've been driving my car for awhile in the winter. But when it is cold it is almost impossible to put it in gear, namely reverse or 1st. I mean you really have to push on this thing to hope it goes in. most of the time it wont even go no matter how hard i push and i just have to hope that i parked on a hill so i try slamming it into gear while rolling, which usually works when i cant get it in while stationary. Only things that have been done to tranny include centerforce dual friction clutch and b&m short throw, any ideas??

FWIW mine is difficult to shift cold too, sometimes I even grind the gears. Hope you get an answer.

Have you tried going with synthetic transmission oil? They have better stability over temperature and so there should be less difference between cold and hot. But then again, if your syncho's get affected by cold temperature, then I don't know.

I don't have any trouble getting it into gear but the trans is definitely clunky when it's cold and it sort of bangs into gear when I let the clutch back out...It goes away after a few minutes and then it's fine...I think it's just the nature of the beast but you shouldn't have a problem actually getting it into gear...Hopefully someone will be able to help you out more.

Car only has 70,000 on it but the dealer did the tranny flush when they did the 60,000 warranty service. Not sure if synthetic was used or not, but I dont think oil properties at cold temps would keep me from not being able to get it in gear, that might give more resistance than usually but not this much.

is it just me or does it seem like people hate responding to posts in the drivetrain forum?
