Trouble putting shift fork back in
Trouble putting shift fork back in
Im trying to put my shift fork back in and its not wanting to catch...
Im trying to shove the clutch fork upward at an angle (angle is towards the front of the car) and it feels like it kinda catchs and then i push the fork forward and it kinda catchs again.. but i know it hasnt caught because i call pull straight down on it and it pops right out... Any advice help?

Re: Trouble putting shift fork back in
yeah ok heres the deal..
WHen you pull it out its gonna be alittle harder to pull out cuz its been hooked up and pushed in for so long..
So when you go back to hook it up it wont look like its sitting in as deep as before and you can easily take it off the throw out bearing making you think u dont have it on...
So put the fork back on to where the arm feels like it kinda caught something and look to see if the arm is perpendicular to the ground.. it should not be at an angle..
THis next part it helps if u have 2 people instead of just yourself.
When u think u have it in compresser the plunger on the slave cylinder with your hand and quickly put the plunger end on the arm.. WHile one person eyes the plunger end to make sure its inside that slight groove on the arm, have the 2nd person put on the bolts...
Now once its bolted up get in your car.. compress the clutch slow to see if your clutch is working right.. Then compress it harder and faster a couple times to make sure the shift fork says on the T/O bearing..
1 of two things can happen. THe clutch fork can pop off if u had it on wrong.. Or the plunger end didnt connect well the the groove on the arm and come off.. when this happens youll have a sloppy feeling clutch if u press on it.. but stop pressing so the end doesnt get stuck somewhere.
