Tremec T56 same as my tranny??

im looking at buying a new tranny for my car along with building a 383, with new heads and cam, 12 bolt rear with 4.10s (maybe 4.56s), and a denny's driveshaft with 1350 u joints...but would the tremec t56 (part # 468-1386-000-016) be the same tranny as the borg warner t56 that came stock with my car?? because im looking for an exact m6 replacement for my current tranny (i know these m6's can hold the hp and torque)

The tremec t56 should work in your car just fine

But I do think I remember hearing that the borg warner t56's were a little stronger than the newer tremec's

is it a direct fit tho? all measurements and parts are the same?? i can sacrifice a little bit of strenght because all plans are still tentative...just wondering if the tranny and parts are the same still even tho the company producing them was different

They are the same transmission. Borg-Warner sold the T56 design and production facilities to Tremec in the late 90's.

If I remember right all 97 and earlier T56 transmissions are Borg-Warner. 98 and up should be made my Tremec.
