Question transy changing hard

I have a 94 firebird trans am and it has an LT1 engine. It is an automatic transmission, and the switch in between first and second gear is kinda rough. i was wandering if i could fix it myself, or if i have to get a computer reset for it to fix it. That is the only gear change that does that. 2-3 is fine, and 3-4 is fine. Just 1-2 changes hard. i think it just needs timing, but not really sure. I need the information fast.

Sounds like perhaps you have a worn clutch pack on your 1-2 shift. I did a bit of a search, and found this information on slipping a4's

You may want to try searching for 'slipping transmissions' and things along those natures.

Does anyone here think that putting in a shift kit will help or would that be just a bandaid solution to this problem.

Also GSouth, am I correct in guessing that you just got this car?

you are exactly right. i have only had this car for a month now. my dad is gone in IRAQ and he is the car expert in the family, so i try and write emails and explain the problems. but that doesnt help a whole lot. ill check out the worn clutch pack. thanks again JEDIBANDIT.
