Transmission slipping, have an idea
Transmission slipping, have an idea
Ok, my transmission is slipping pretty bad. I figured it was about to go out, but one of my buddie's step dad is a certified mechanic and he took a look at it for me. I forget what the exact word he said was for it, but he said that a cable (the detention cable or something like that) that is on the same piece as the throttle cable. It has a metal piece on the end of the cable in a nut shape, and the cable is thinner than the throttle cable. When I push the throttle all the way down, it doesn't even move, and Tom told me that it should go back with the throttle.
So when I'm driving the car revs up and just sits there instead of accelerating unless I keep completely off the gas and then push it again. It shifts pretty well then. So, Tom told me that the car is probably on it's second transmission and they forgot to hook the cable back up when they put it on the car. So what is that cable called, and how much work would it be to take the pan off and hook it up?

Re: Transmission slipping, have an idea
It's called a Detent Cable or Throttle Valve (TV) cable. Not sure if your 94 has one......I thought it was fully electronic. I'll see what I can find!
