Transmission selections, need help please

i have been trying to research every possible solution and it seems alot of you guys are torn between the th400 and 200R4.

well here is the deal, i have a 93 (SD, 4L60/700R4) firebird. i am getting ready to supercharge it and am expecting to make about 550-600 to the flywheel. i've been told my tranny will hold it with minor upgrades, but i just had it rebuilt from a reputable shop in the area about 3 months ago, ive been running around with the tranny and my only mod has been a 75shot of nitrous maybe 2 times a week..and the tranny died about a month ago.

i've been swaying towards a TH350w/ 2.73's in the rear end, i know BMR sells a crossmember for it already, and i think it would be easier/cheaper to do that setup and still retain highway driveability figuring ill being spinning about 2700rpm doing 75

another thing i have heard is vacuum activated shifts, or something to that effect..if that is true, how will the supercharger change my tranny selection?

also, if you have a setup that would be good for my application, could you give me a rough estimate of what it would cost to put it all together?

TIA, Ken.

I'd buy a Street/strip 700r4/4l60(E), even a 2004r; 400's will eat up a lot more hp but are strong...I'd probably do a power glide before a 400, either way you'll need to change the rear gears..

i may build a tranny like that then...just curious though, i have a 700R4 from an 89 V6 Firebird readily available to me...is it a direct replacement to my tranny in my 93 firebird? if its not, whats the differences?

Why a 'glide? You need big torque relative to weight and a high stall converter to run a 'glide sucessfully. I don't know of anyone using one on a street/strip 4th gen.
