transmission rebuild???????
Re: transmission rebuild???????
You are going to get mixed reviews on this, but I was there when Frank @ CPT rebuilt mine and after seeing all that goes into tearing these things down, I am glad I took it to a professional, plus the race rebuild I got, I couldn't have been able to do myself, yeah I could buy parts and throw them in, but Ferank actually used a micrometer on every clutch and steel that went into the tranny, to make sure the spacing was correct. Actually when I was watching him check them all he found 2 that were the wrong size even though his vender sent a whole bunch it the same box and 2 were different.
Long story short, unless you know exactly what you are doing and what parts you need to upgrade from GM's original design then I would take it to a profesional builder!

I can second that,a pro is the way to go and small things as mentioned above can mean the difference between a great and lasting trans and a disaster happening and alot of time and money wasted.
Re: transmission rebuild???????
To me, an auto tranny, especially an OD electronic type like the 4L60E is non-intuitive and best left to a pro. Over the winter I rebuilt the Powerglide on my race car. This is a much simpler tranny than the 4L60E, but I would have been over my head except that I had my buddy looking over my shoulder - and he has rebuilt hundreds of trannies. I bet I would have left out some small but essential bushing or something like that if I had tried it myself.
