Transmission question

I'm new here go easy on me. I have an 86 Iroc Camaro and it has the 5speed tranny with the 305. Well this winter I plan on puttin a 355 motor in it and it has about 400-500 hp . I kno my transmission can not handle this power so my question is.... Where do I sent my transmission to handle this power? I heard there is a place in Minnosota or somewhere that does them but I'm not sure. Or do I have to buy a new one? Any Information would be greatly appreciated.

Nick

Re: Transmission question

Well i don't know much about transmissions, but you're right, the stock 305 5 speed will buckle under the torque from a 350 or higher. I think you might want a T-56, if that's right, i think those can take the power from a 350. And are you in minnesota? and where'd you hear about this transmission place? (i'm in minnesota)

Re: Transmission question

It would be worth your time and money to make the t-56 swap. Lots of 3rdgen owners have done it.

It will probably cost no more than trying to get the weak t-5 built, plus you get the extra gear.

Re: Transmission question

What would I have to get for the T-56 tranny to work?
