Transmission question

I am about to buy a 1995 firbird formual for cheap due to a problem with the transmission. Everything works perfect on it other then second gear. Everything shifts great and there is no slippag ebut when it shifts into 2nd it doesnt even grab a gear. IT is basically like being in neutral. I don't understand the problem. Anyone have any idea. Can it be rebuilt or do i need a a new one?

It can be rebuilt or you can get a new one. I'd recommend trying to find a used one from someone on this board or something. Or look at a local junk yard to see what they have. In the end it will probably save you some cash. Mine went out and the cheapest quote I could get was for around $1500 bucks to rebuild it. I bought a used one from a member on this site for $350 bucks and it's worked great ever since. Good luck. One more thing, how many miles are on the car? Also give the whole thing a good look, you don't want to be buying something that already has a problem with it, who knows how many more there might be that haven't shown up.
