Transmission Noise (M6)

I purchased a 1995 Camaro Z28 M6 yesturday, and the guy had the transmission completly overhauled in October under 1500 miles ago. It has a 3 year/36,000 Mile warranty.

The transmission is really noisy and whines through every gear. It has a B+M Ripper short shifter. The clutch is good and the car shifts fine, just makes noises while driving. Anyone know what this could be. I'd plan to have the shop look it over, but it's about 3 states away, so I would like to see what is making the noise and if it's a bigger problem.

Thanks!

Are you sure it is the transmission? It could be rear end.
Could you explain the whine in better detail?
You will probably just have to wait until the shop looks at it to make sure what it is and then go from there. Other then that, I do not know so maybe someone else could be of help on here.

Well the noise comes from the transmission and was louder when the center piece was removed. It sounds like an old Muncie Rockcrusher.

Well, M6s with aftermarket shifters are generaly noisy. Have you ever driven one before? Does it do it in every gear? How does it shift?

I've driven my bros with a Hurst (silver stick) shifter. This one is quite a bit noisier. It shifts good and does it in every gear.

When I first installed my B&M I noticed that it was significantly noiser than the stock unit. The Hurst is quiter than the B&M also. I do believe they have a rubber isolator to cut down on noise.

Ok, everyone's telling me it's the shifter, but I didn't think it would have that big of a difference. He said it was louder when he out the tranny replaced, but it shifts good and everything, and the car definently drives good and has plenty of power, so I'm not too ashamed of the purchase, the car is REALLY nice, just curious about the noise.

I have a pro 5.0 on mine and i dont have any noise? But some manuals whine because of the way they were rebuilt (type of gears installed, or the way the gears mesh). I have some friends with t5's and they whine loudly in certain gears since they had been rebuilt, yet theres nothing really wrong with them and theyve put thousands of miles on them.
