Re: Transmission mount??

If you want polyurethane the only one I know with the right height for our cars is from Spohn...Although some have used the Energy Suspension one with no problems, others had to shim down the cross member because the Energy one is a little taller...Are you sure you don't have any other driveline issues? Breaking 2 in a month and a half is a lot...

www.spohn.net

Steve and Gordon Spohn (son and father) are great to deal with...and have/make good suspension parts...

I had the ES mount myself. Vibration was not too bad, but worse than stock. I swapped the ES for a Prothane, and it was 100 times better. Still not as smooth as the stocker, but will last a helluva lot longer.. The Prothane mount gets my vote.

Re: Transmission mount??

Never heard of Anchor before.. Is it a poly mount? If so, throw it in and give it a try. If ya dont like it, take it back...

Personally I would have ordered the Prothane, but that is just me... I'm one of those picky people who dont mind spending twice as much or waiting twice as long to get something right..

Re: Transmission mount??

No I don't think its a poly. Why do you think the mounts keep on breaking? The car only puts out 305 horses and 345lbs of torque.

Re: Transmission mount??

Our cars are famous for it.. It is very common.. Almost everyone I know with a camaro has two traits. 1. if an LS1, it has piston slap. 2. if any Camaro, breaking tranny mounts.

If it is not a poly mount, take it back and get a refund. It will break in 6 months. The only way to have a lasting mount is to get a poly mount of some sort. You will give up a little ride comfortability for vibration, but well worth it to not have to replace mounts every six months..

Also, at first the poly mount may seem to vibrate a lot. Give it a thousand miles or so to break in, and it should be less noticable.

But most definitely, if it is not a poly mount, it WILL break again...

Oh yeah, the other thing our cars are famous for.. Is power window motors going bad.. Well, any GM really..

Re: Transmission mount??

One other thing. The Energy Suspension mounts height is not correct. It is a universal GM mount, and therefore is a little off for our cars. This changes the driveshaft pinion angle, causing a lot more vibration. It does come with a spacer plate, but it is not thick enough really. Some people have reported good results, but they are the minority. The Prothane brand mount is made specifically for our cars, and has the right height. I have not had a spohn, so can not speak for them other than the fact the spohn family knows our cars well. So if they make one, it is probably good as well.

It's different from car to car. You may have gotten lucky, and yours does not vibrate much. Mine was very harsh, but with the Prothane much more tame...
